The Challenge
The client was an NGO that aimed to improve pediatric ophthalmologic care and optometry training in Ghana. The project sought to establish an optic care social center in leading hospitals and providing specialized training but recognized they lacked local stakeholder engagement and support.
The Approach
Our support included conducting an economic study of the Ghana Health System and Eye Care sector, stakeholder mapping and engagement, coordinating with teaching hospitals, and assessing equipment needs. We facilitated training workshops and established networks with private sector distributors and commercial entities.
Outcome
The project successfully trained healthcare professionals, enhanced pediatric ophthalmologic care, and established key partnerships with teaching hospitals and private sector entities. The initiative significantly improved the availability and quality of eye care services in Ghana.
